On March 7, 2018, Lingyin Temple, following the Buddhist tradition, held the spring animal release ceremony for the liberation of living souls in the year of wuxu (戊戌). The activity attracted over 200 people, including the Buddhist masters and lay Buddhists from Lingyin Temple as well as guests and Buddhist believers.

The Monastery Supervisor of Lingyin Temple Master Zhiguang hosted the ceremony which began with the incense offering ritual, providing ritual purification to empower all sentient beings. He also gave an enlightening speech to the participants about the significance of releasing animals. At the end of the activity, all participants prayed for harmony and peace for all, and national prosperity here at home.
