On March 16, 2018, the Chinese Buddhist Cultural Heritage Photography Exhibition was inaugurated at the Piramal Art Gallery of the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Mumbai, India. The Vice Secretary-General of The Buddhist Association of China and Abbot of Hangzhou Lingyin Temple Venerable Master Guangquan attended and addressed the audience during the opening ceremony of the exhibition. On the occasion, Venerable Master Guangquan said that, "‘Civilizations have become richer and more colorful with exchanges and mutual learning. ’ As two of the world’s ancient civilizations, China and India are joined by common mountains and rivers and have a long history and deep cultural roots. Over the past two thousand years of friendship, Buddhism has played an irreplaceable role as a link in the collision and blend of the Chinese and Indian cultures. We sincerely hope that through these fascinating photos our Indian friends can know more about the long history of the Buddhist culture in China from multiple dimensions and have a personal experience of the dialogues among different civilizations along the Silk Road. "
The exhibition was co-hosted by China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, The Buddhist Association of China and the National Centre for Performing Arts with the support of the Musician’s Federation of India and China Photographers Association. The exhibition showcased over 80 photos related to Buddhist statues, buildings, appliances, rituals, education and scriptures, taking spectators on a visual pilgrimage and demonstration of the current harmonious qualities of the Chinese Buddhism.
