According to the Buddhist tradition, the Lingyin Sangha gathered at the Mahavira Hall of Lingyin Temple to end the Vassa (also known as the three-month Monastic Summer Retreat or Rains Retreat) by atoning for any offense that might have been committed during the Vassa on August 24, 2018 (the fourteenth day of the seventh month of the Chinese calendar).

The Abbot of Lingyin Temple Venerable Master Guangquan hosted the ceremony by burning incense and worshiping the Buddha first, and then guided the Lingyin Sangha for confessions of their karma to each other. This marked a successful end to the 90-day-long Vassa.

At the end, Venerable Master Guangquan elaborated on the significance of atoning for the offenses that one might have committed and encouraged every one to often reflect on themselves and strictly obey the monastic rules and disciplines for gains and benefits in their Buddhist practice.
