Abbot Guangquan of Lingyin Temple Elaborates on Chinese Chan Buddhism Culture

 At 14:30 pm (Paris time), September 13, 2014, "Cultural China – Expert Forum" was co-hosted by Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, Nouvelles d'Europe Media Group, and Fo Guang Shan Fahua Temple in Paris. Venerable Abbot Guangquan of Lingyin Temple was invited to elaborate on Chinese Chan Buddhism culture and to promote the Chinese traditional culture. Other honored guests at the forum included Li Yongqing, Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department of China Overseas Exchange Association, Gong Qinfang, Deputy Director of Hangzhou Overseas Exchange Association, and Feng Yi, Deputy Director of Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Ethnic and Religious Affairs.

After Venerable Guangquan’s speech on Chan culture, Buddhist masters of Lingyin Temple dazzled the overseas Chinese in France with a brew of Yunlin Chan tea, Yunlin vegetarian food and Buddhist chants that not only reminded them of rich oriental culture but also the home-style flavor.

 

     "Cultural China – Expert Forum" is part of the Cultural China Series organized by Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council and China Overseas Exchange Association. Renowned Chinese experts and scholars are invited to give speeches on Chinese classics at the forum and such an opportunity of face-to-face communication aims to pass on the essence of Chinese culture to overseas Chinese abroad.
