Signboard Licensing for Sites for Religious Activities Inaugurated

On the morning of November 27, 2014, signboard licensing for sites for religious activities was officially inaugurated in Zhejiang and Lingyin Temple is the first temple in the province to have a licensed signboard. An opening ceremony was held afterwards. A total number of over 270 people attended the event, including Vice Minister of United Front Department of Zhejiang Provincial Committee and Director of Ethnic and Religious Affairs Committee of Zhejiang Province Feng Zhili, two Deputy Directors of Ethnic and Religious Affairs Committee of Zhejiang Province Ni Zhongyang and Chen Zhenhua, Secretary of Party Committee of Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Ethnic and Religious Affairs Yang Zhigang, Deputy Director of Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Ethnic and Religious Affairs Feng Yi, Chairman of the Buddhist Association of Zhejiang and Abbot of Xuedou Temple Venerable Master Yizang, Chairman of the Buddhist Association of Hangzhou and Abbot of Lingyin Temple Venerable Master Guangquan, representatives of Buddhist students and lay Buddhists of Hangzhou Buddhist Academy, and people in charge of the five major religious organizations of Zhejiang, municipal Buddhist associations of Zhejiang, and the five major municipal religious sites of Hangzhou. The ceremony was hosted by Director of Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Ethnic and Religious Affairs Guo Qingye and Deputy Director Ni Zhongyang delivered a speech at the ceremony.

Vice Minister of United Front Department of Zhejiang Provincial Committee and Director of Ethnic and Religious Affairs Committee of Zhejiang Province Feng Zhili personally conferred the licensed signboard of Lingyin Temple on Venerable Abbot Guangquan, which has marked the inauguration of signboard licensing for sites for religious activities in Zhejiang. As regulated by State Administration of Religious Affairs, the licensed signboard for sites for religious activities should be hung in the most prominent position of the entrance to show their legitimacy and to be subject to public supervision for the convenience of the general public.
