On April 8, 2016, Abbot of Lingyin Temple Ven. Guangquan attended the Dharma Assembly for Buddha Bathing Ceremony in Kyoto and had a five-day friendly exchange with the Japanese Buddhist community at the invitation of Kyoto Buddhist Organization. He was accompanied by Vice-chairman of the Buddhist Association of Hangzhou and Abbot of Jingshan Wanshou Temple Ven. Jiexing, and Secretary-general of the Buddhist Association of Hangzhou Mr. Qian Jianzhong, etc.
There have been a lot of friendly visits and exchanges with fruitful results achieved between Lingyin Temple and the Japanese Buddhist community. They have jointly hosted activities many times on the Buddhist culture, the Go culture and Chan tea culture. During the five-day friendly exchange, Ven. Guangquan and other Buddhist masters visited Ryuhozan Daitoku-ji Temple, Myōshin-ji Temple (the head temple of Japanese Rinzai Buddhism), Tenryu-ji Temple, Hieizan Enryaku-ji Temple and other Buddhist temples in Kyoto. They had a thorough exchange with the Japanese Buddhist community on the promotion and development of Buddhism, and the management of modern Buddhist temples.
Ven. Guangquan and other Buddhist masters also paid a visit to the young monks studying Buddhism in Japan from Hangzhou Buddhist Academy. Ven. Guangquan asked about their studies and life and encouraged them to work hard on the studies and practice of Buddhism and stick to the fundamentals of Buddhists so that they can make more contribution to the promotion of Buddhism after they return to China.
