July 2, 2014- Abbot Venerable Guanquan lead Buddhism's Four Groups of Disciples (monks, nuns, laymen, and laywomen) of Lingyin Temple, including the Lingyin Temple volunteer staff, on a devout pilgrimage up Mount Putuo on the seaside of Zhejiang Province. The group totaling more than fifty individuals put on display their devotion for proper cultivation and sincere reverence for Guanyin Bohdisattva--Godess of Mercy, the Bodhisattva of Great Compassion for whom the holy site of Mount Putuo was dedicated.
Waiting quietly were the members of the Lingyin Temple volunteer staff upon the Abbot's arrival at 8:30am. The quest began promptly from the stone mountain gate, bowing every three steps, and proceeded on the ancient footpath leading up to Puji Temple. The weather was on the side of the faithful for the most part--having rained all of the weeks prior--overcast yet relatively cool day.

June 30, 2014--Iconic entrepreneur and founder of Kyocera Corporation and KDDI Corporation, Inamori Kazuo visited Lingyin Temple with a warm reception from Abbot Guangquan in forming a friendly bond.
Abbot Quangquan received the special guests at the Lantern Pavilion Reception Hall and immediately engaged in deep discussion of Buddhist cultures with Mr. Kazuo. The Abbot then reflected on his personal experiences with Japanese Buddhism and introduced the history of Lingyin Temple, the local Buddhist culture, and the numerous large-scale Buddhist events that Lingyin Temple hosts at a national level. The two sides exchanged gifts in a brief ceremony as Abbot Guangquan and Mr. Kazuo engaged in further discussion before concluding the meeting in an atmosphere of fond friendship.

June 26, 2014--Guests comprised of seventy international journalists and media representatives from The Overseas Chinese Media Association of Zhejiang spent the day absorbed in the magnificent Lingyin culture at the heart of the southeast Buddhist nation of China. June 1st, 2014—Lingyin Temple’s Supervising Keeper Ven. Yiguang, on behalf of Lingyin Temple, lead a Lingyin goodwill group to Zhejiang Civil Affairs Hospital Recovery Center to visit the children there and to celebrate International Children’s Day with them.
At 9:00 AM, Masters Yiguang, Changfa, Zhengqin, Zhizhong, Zhifa, and volunteers arrived at the Recovery Center and visited the children in the Recovery Ward and the Special Education Ward. They were received with a warm welcome from the center’s deputy director Zhang Lili, accompanied by the center’s caregivers and teachers. To celebrate the holiday, Lingyin’s group brought fruit, chairs, strollers, and other daily necessities and toys for the children.

Master Guangquan shared the history of Lingyin Temple and recounted his own profound experiences with South Korean Buddhism. Senior Master Xu Yixuan and Master Faji graciously invited Master Guangquan to visit South Korea’s Jogye Order when he has the chance once again, and strengthen the exchanges between the Buddhist communities of South Korea and China, for the development of the two countries’ Buddhist communities. On the morning of May 25th, 2014, the organizers of the third Zhejiang University’s Program for Enterprise Management (Lu’s Course) invited Lingyin Temple’s Abbot, Master Guangquan to give a lecture on "Zen and Life" at the Lu Ban Forum. In attendence were more than 500 guests and scholars as well as organizations associated with this event. Abbot Guangquan used Lingyin Temple’s ancient architecture’s historical resonance in a vivid metaphor about the professional direction of the scholars. On the afternoon of May 22nd, 2014, the Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen visited Lingyin Temple and was met with a warm reception from Abbot Guangquan and the temple members.
Accompanied by Master Guangquan, Prime Minister Hun Sen visited the halls of the temple. In the Grand Hall, he burned incense and paid his respects to Sakyamuni Buddha. In the Hall of the Medicine Buddha, he observed the temple members meditating upon Huayan Sutra.
Master Guangquan held a reception for Prime Minister Hun Sen in the Liandeng Pavillion. He introduced to Prime Minister Hun Sen the long history of Lingyin Temple and southeastern Hangzhou Buddhist culture. Abbot Guangquan shared his personal journeys to Cambodia, twice—once to celebrate the Day of Vesak, held by UNESCO in Cambodia, another time for pilgrimage.
